What’s your favorite month of the year? Why?
October might be my favorite month of the year. Not that I truly have a favorite month, but if I had to pick it would be the tenth month of the calendar year. It symbolizes change, just like in the spring, but with a sense of imminent nostalgia. Like getting halloween decorations out like my mom did when I was little. Choosing costumes with the kids and trick or treating. Or like the Thanksgivings of years passed, gathered with loved ones enjoying recipes that have been recreated every year. Putting the Christmas tree up on Black Friday is a personal tradition, but one that I keep alive in hopes of more illuminated, snuggly days on the couch with my boys. And I always look forward to holiday baking. Another nostalgic tradition of my childhood that I now share with my youngest son. While we cant live in the past, we can indulge in and recreate new memories of old holiday pastimes. It really is a season of change, and that is something I thrive on. But more than that, it is a season to love, to share and to cherish.
